Askersunds kommun is now seeking a pipe network technician / water and wastewater systems installer for the Water and Wastewater Department. We are looking for someone with experience working with water supply and sewage networks who can step into operations independently after a brief introduction. As part of the Water and Wastewater Department, you help ensure that the municipality's residents and businesses have access to clean drinking water and reliable wastewater management. The work includes planned maintenance, repairs, renewal, and emergency response on the municipality's water and wastewater network. The Water and Wastewater Department consists of approximately 14 employees. You work closely with supervisors, water and wastewater technicians, engineers, and colleagues. The relatively small organization means short decision-making paths, varied tasks, and good opportunities to influence how work is carried out. Welcome to Askersund! DUTIES Your work will include: • Performing operation, maintenance, and repair work on water supply and sewage lines, • Participating in new installations and renewal of water and wastewater networks, • Performing pipe laying and installation of valves, service lines, inspection chambers, and other network components, • Managing emergency water leaks, blockages, and other operational disruptions, • Performing flushing, leak detection, inspection, and troubleshooting, • Performing or assisting with PE welding, • Reading drawings and network documentation and using digital operational systems, • Documenting completed work and changes to the network, • Assisting with surveying and setting out, • Collaborating with contractors and other municipal operations on maintenance, operation, and investment projects. The work is conducted largely outdoors year-round and can be physically demanding at times. On-call duty is part of the position. During on-call periods, you work with other on-call personnel to manage emergency disruptions in the municipality's water and wastewater supply. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with documented and current experience in practical work with water and wastewater networks, pipe laying, or equivalent installation work. For this position, you need to have the experience and competence to work independently on the water and wastewater network after a brief introduction to our facilities and procedures. Requirements • Work experience in water and wastewater network operations, pipe laying, or other experience that the employer considers equivalent. • Practical knowledge of working with buried water supply and sewage lines. • Ability to work both independently and with others. • Basic computer skills and ability to work with digital documentation. • Category B driver's license. • Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written. • On-call duty is part of the position and requires that you can report to the workplace or another designated location within approximately 30 minutes. Merits It is particularly advantageous if you have: • Diploma education in pipe laying, • Experience and training in PE welding, • Professional certification in installation work, • Experience with repair and renewal of municipal water and wastewater lines, • Experience with leak detection and troubleshooting on water supply networks, • Training in drinking water hygiene or experience with hygiene requirements when working on drinking water lines, • Experience with flushing and working on sewage networks, • Experience with VA-banken or similar network and operational management systems, • Knowledge of blueprint reading, GIS, surveying, and setting out, • Category BE or C driver's license, • Forklift certification, • Training in areas such as Work on Roads, Hot Work, Safe Lifting, or other relevant workplace safety training.
