Teknik i Väst AB is a utility company owned by Arvika and Eda municipalities. The company is responsible for waste management, operations and maintenance within roads and streets, and water and sewerage services for Arvika and Eda municipalities. The company also manages the electrical grid, district heating and power for Arvika as well as fiber operations for Arvika and Årjäng networks. As Waste Management Director, you have overall responsibility for municipal waste management in Arvika and Eda municipalities, from the collection of food and residual waste, packaging and sludge to the operation and development of our recycling centers and landfills at Mosseberg and Lunden, where business operations are also conducted. You lead through two unit managers who in turn are responsible for approximately 30 employees, and hold overall responsibility for budget, fees and operational development. You are stepping into an operation facing several important development stages. New legal requirements, changed collection systems, digitalization and increased demands for sustainable and efficient solutions are driving development forward. There is also an ongoing decision process for Årjäng municipality to become a co-owner in Teknik i Väst and for the company to take responsibility for waste management in Årjäng from the turn of the year, which offers new opportunities to further develop the business. As Waste Management Director, you will among other things: Drive strategic development work within an operation and industry in transition Lead and develop the operation's managers and employees Responsible for budget, monitoring, waste management fees and business operations Develop and improve efficiency of the operation through digitalization and new working methods Work on long-term development of waste facilities, including permit issues, environmental requirements and landfill processes Be the client to the project and environment unit Work closely with customer service, finance and communications Participate in board meetings, political forums and cooperation with other municipalities Represent Teknik i Väst in Avfall Sverige, Avfall Värmland and other external networks You are part of both the company's management group and the head of infrastructure's management group in Eda. The position is based at Arvika City Hall, with regular presence in the operations. Ongoing and Future Development and Growth Areas Much is happening within waste management and you will have a central role in several important change and development projects: Implementation of home sorting and expanded collection responsibilities Implementation of new digital tools for route planning and driver support Development of business-driven operations related to materials and recycling Work on long-term facility plans, final covering and permit issues Continued development of the operation in line with changing demands and expectations from municipal residents and society Dialogue and preparations related to a potential expanded mandate in Årjäng municipality from 2027 Continued work on cooperation, culture and leadership within an operation that has undergone organizational changes This is a role where you have the opportunity to make a real difference, both for the environment and for people's daily lives. Qualifications Requirements Documented leadership experience with budget and occupational health and safety responsibility Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing Class B driving license Meritorious Experience from waste management, recycling, logistics, operations or municipal operations Experience from fee-financed operations or politically managed organizations Experience of change management and management group work Post-secondary education in for example engineering, environment, infrastructure or equivalent Why Choose Teknik i Väst?
