QC Engineer – Outokumpu Avesta Be part of ensuring the quality of stainless steel for the future Outokumpu is one of the world's leading producers of stainless steel, with a clear focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability. For our operations in Avesta, we are now looking for a QC Engineer to join the Engineering & Quality department. Here you'll take on a broad and important specialist role where you work closely with production, engineering, and our commercial functions. Your mission is straightforward: to ensure that our products meet the right requirements and that our customers receive the right material with the right quality. This role is ideal for you if you enjoy combining engineering and quality with problem-solving, collaboration, and interaction with many different parts of the business. About the role As a QC Engineer, you'll be an important link between our customers' requirements and our production in Avesta. You help the business assess what we can produce based on different technical requirements and ensure that materials, documentation, and work methods comply with current standards and specifications. Part of the work involves managing and interpreting material standards and customer requirements. You also monitor developments in the field and ensure that new or changed requirements are properly implemented in our operations and systems. When quality deviations occur, you drive the work forward. This may involve investigating what happened, supporting root cause analyses, and working with other functions to find the right solution. You also work with technical complaints and maintain contact with both internal and external parties. Examples of areas you will work with: • technical support regarding customer requirements and products • material and product standards as well as product approvals • material and inspection certificates • technical complaints and quality deviations • root cause analyses and improvement work • change management, including development of work methods and systems The role involves many contact points and you'll collaborate with colleagues in quality, engineering, logistics, research, product development, and sales, as well as with customers and external inspection bodies. Who are you? We're looking for someone with a degree in materials science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or equivalent, or who has built up equivalent competence through relevant work experience. You have a good understanding of process and product quality and experience working with material standards, technical requirements, or quality issues in industry. It is advantageous if you have experience with: • material testing and quality control • material and product standards • complaint and deviation handling • production processes in steel or process industry • Avesta Operations and our production processes As a person, you are analytical and structured, while also enjoying collaboration and communication with others. You need to be able to understand technical issues, balance different requirements, and feel comfortable making decisions. Since the role has many contact points, we also believe you are curious, solution-oriented, and thrive in an operation where conditions sometimes change quickly. You communicate fluently in Swedish and have very good English skills.
