Together with the Rector, university leadership, colleagues, and staff, you will drive the strategic development of education, research, and collaboration, with the goal of strengthening the university's quality, attractiveness, and societal relevance. Employment Information Employment Type: Permanent position commencing with possible probation period Employment Period/Start Date: Immediately or by agreement Scope: Full-time Number of Positions: 1 Application Deadline: 2026-09-30 Work Location: Västerås/Eskilstuna Institution/Unit/Department: MDU Your Assignment As Pro-Rector, you are the Rector's deputy according to the Higher Education Act and a central part of the university's management. You work closely with the Rector and other management functions to develop and implement the university's vision and strategic goals. You contribute to ensuring that education and research maintain high quality and that the university's relevance, attractiveness, and societal value are strengthened. You have particular focus on further developing high quality in education and research, the university's relevance and attractiveness as a cohesive environment through strategic educational focus and quality assurance work. An integral part of your work is establishing trustworthy relationships internally and externally. Who Are You? You are an experienced academic leader with strong strategic abilities and a broad perspective on higher education and research. You have the ability to bring people together around common goals and are driven by creating conditions for development, quality, and innovation. Qualifications We are looking for you who: hold a doctoral degree with achieved docent competence, have several years of documented management experience and experience leading other managers, have successfully worked as an academic leader at higher/highest organizational level, are well versed in quality assurance work, have strategic structural ability with documented experience leading and developing operations in complex environments, have demonstrated capacity to translate vision and goals into prerequisite-creating action for renewal and change, possess high scientific and pedagogical credibility and have very good knowledge of the conditions for higher education and research with understanding of relevant regulations and quality aspects, have well-documented experience conducting, leading, and developing high-quality teaching and pedagogical development work at an institution, have well-documented ability to credibly represent the entire university and to promote broad student participation, have experience representing an institution in international contexts, have well-documented ability to promote and work systematically for a good work environment, internal cooperation, equality, diversity, and inclusion, have demonstrated ability to be communicative, collaboration-oriented, trustworthy, innovative, and decisive, have demonstrated ability to maintain accessibility and direct dialogue with the entire organization, have excellent ability to communicate well in speech and writing in Swedish and English. Meritorious It is meritorious if you: have professor competence, have worked in a position as Pro-Rector, Vice-Rector, or Rector's council, have successfully engaged in higher education and research's contribution to a sustainable future, have experience further developing collaboration and co-production with surrounding society in line with society's challenges and needs, have higher education pedagogy training.
