Project Design Manager for Västlänken Program, Haga Project, Otterhällan Sub-Project Would you like to contribute to the development of one of Sweden's largest infrastructure projects? We are now seeking an experienced and committed Project Design Manager for Västlänken Program, Haga Project, Otterhällan Sub-Project. In this role, you will have a central function in a complex rock tunnel project where you will be responsible for leading and coordinating design work in close collaboration with designers, contractors, and technical specialists. This is a consulting assignment with placement in Gothenburg. The assignment starts 2026-11-01 and comprises approximately 50% of full-time. Physical presence at the Swedish Transport Administration's office in Gothenburg is required. About the Company Trafikverket is responsible for long-term planning of the transport system for road traffic, rail traffic, maritime, and aviation. The Västlänken Program is one of Sweden's largest infrastructure projects and creates the future for commuter and regional rail traffic through central Gothenburg. About the Role As Project Design Manager within the Otterhällan Sub-Project, you will have a key role in ensuring that design work is carried out efficiently, cost-effectively, and with high quality. You will work in a complex rock tunnel project with many interfaces and collaborating parties where technical understanding, structure, and collaboration skills are crucial for success. Role and Responsibilities Monitor design costs and review designers' invoice documentation Develop and monitor budget forecasts and continuously reconcile with the sub-project manager Lead design work together with contracted designers Coordinate design work with contractors to ensure optimal solutions before and during the construction phase Lead design meetings with designers and contractors Lead and coordinate technical specialists within the sub-project Ensure that risks are managed and that work environment aspects are integrated into the design in collaboration with BAS-P Monitor designers' deliverables regarding TKI Ensure that Trafikverket's requirements are met and handle any exemptions Coordinate reception inspections, inspection implementation, and construction documentation Manage interfaces with other sub-projects, specialist organizations, and review functions Participate in the project's risk management Monitor compliance with regulatory and legal requirements Integrate agreed preconditions from external stakeholders into design and documentation Participate in scheduling and production planning for the sub-project Required Competencies 1. Post-secondary education from a university, college, or vocational college in a relevant area, or equivalent education and experience. 2. At least 3 years of experience with design management in complex rock tunnel projects in major city environments for the public sector. 3. At least 3 years of experience with design management in complex rock tunnel projects in the production phase with responsibility for monitoring and ongoing updates to construction documentation. 4. Experience in a collaborative role as project design manager in at least one complex rock tunnel project executed through collaboration/partnering for at least two years. 5. At least 3 years of experience managing and financially monitoring contracts with design consultants. 6. Excellent ability to create and maintain good relationships in complex project environments. 7. Good knowledge of Swedish, spoken and written. Added Value Requirements 1. Experience handling security-classified tasks. 2. Experience from projects where you have contributed to verifiable cost savings through, for example, technical solutions, more efficient production methods, reduced design effort, or improved coordination.
