We are seeking a staff member for an Erasmus+ funded project to develop educational materials for mathematics instruction incorporating programming and computational methods. About the Workplace The Mathematics Centre has approximately 150 employees, with about 40 at the Mathematics Department NF where this position is located. Other departments include Mathematics LTH with numerical analysis, and Mathematical Statistics. The Mathematics Department NF holds overall responsibility for science-based bachelor's and master's programs in mathematics and offers mathematics and numerical analysis courses that are also elective options within other programs at the Faculty of Science and can be taken as standalone courses. As a project assistant, you can combine your studies with work as a student and complement your theoretical knowledge with practical work experience. Job Responsibilities As a team member on this project, you will develop educational materials for mathematics instruction incorporating programming, computational methods, and interactive digital tools. Your responsibilities will include: developing and testing tutorials, exercises, and projects that combine mathematics and programming. providing feedback on the pedagogical structure of the materials from a student perspective. implementing examples and solutions in programming languages (e.g., Python). learning and applying new technologies for interactive web-based tutorials (e.g., Jupyter Notebook). experimenting with and evaluating tools that connect educational materials to LLMs (large language models). collaborating with the project's instructors and researchers, as well as with international partner universities. Qualifications Requirements for the position: completed bachelor's degree in programming, computer science, or equivalent. completed mathematics courses at the Mathematics Centre, Lund University (minimum two full-time semesters or equivalent). excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written. good communication skills and ability to work independently. Meritorious qualifications: experience with teaching, mentoring, or pedagogical material development. personal experience using AI tools in mathematics studies. participation in conferences, workshops, or project work on programming and AI in mathematics education. experience with international collaboration. Other Information This is a limited-term employment as a special fixed-term position (SÄVA) according to the Swedish Employment Protection Act (LAS). Scope: 20% per employee (two positions total). Period: October 12, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter until December 31, 2026, with some flexibility in scheduling. Activities are conducted in the northern university area. The Faculty has approximately 1,900 students, 330 doctoral students, and 730 employees.
