Mid Sweden University is located in the heart of the South Sámi area in Saepmie. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a multi-campus department with activities at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department's activities include research and education in the following subjects: English, gender studies, history, criminology, literature, social science, sociology, political science, Swedish as a second language, and the Swedish language. Research is conducted within each subject area as well as within the Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR), Forum for Gender Studies (FGV), and DEMICOM. Job Responsibilities The project assistant will work in two research projects. Your responsibilities will include administering research activities such as recruiting and scheduling research participants and conducting interviews. Your Background We are looking for someone with a master's degree in sociology or equivalent, and experience with research-related work. You should be able to perform administrative tasks that require proficiency in both Swedish and English. It is beneficial if you have experience with research related to contemporary back-to-nature movements and experience conducting interviews with activists in contemporary social movements. Good ability to read, write, and discuss research-related questions in English and experience conducting independent analyses from a critical perspective are also merits. A driver's license is a requirement for conducting fieldwork. Your Qualities This position requires collaboration with colleagues on the project, so good collaborative skills, social competence, and strong communication skills are essential. Employment and Start Date This is a fixed-term appointment at 50% of full time starting November 2, 2026, or by agreement. The employment period is six months, ending no later than April 31, 2027.
