The role is a full-time temporary position for six months with the possibility of extension, starting as soon as possible. About the Department The Department of Biomedical Engineering is part of the Department of Materials Science at Ångström Laboratory. We conduct fundamental research in the development and evaluation of new materials in interaction with biological systems to understand the underlying principles. For us, it is equally important to study the impact of materials on biological processes as the impact of biological processes on materials. Our ambition is to create a dynamic teaching and research environment that is internationally recognized for its excellent ability to combine fundamental research with clinical applications. Responsibilities: This position is intended primarily to serve as an administrative support function. Your responsibilities will include organizing, structuring, and developing work routines within the department and the two research groups. There will be both simpler and more advanced administrative tasks. Typical responsibilities include: - Provide support and service to department staff - Organization of meetings (both for smaller groups and larger scientific symposiums) - Taking meeting minutes - Updating websites and social media with the latest research results and scientific events - Making travel arrangements - Preparing and reporting project and group budgets with support from the institution's finance staff - Assisting with financial and scientific reporting to the university as well as national and international research funding bodies - Administration related to recruitment Qualifications: - Higher education degree or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent - Documented experience working on larger projects in the public or private sector - Documented experience with collaboration and outreach communication - Experience in financial administration and/or skills in graphic design - Strong English language skills, both spoken and written Meritorious/Desirable: - Experience in a similar role at a university or higher education institution - PhD degree in engineering, natural sciences, or medicine - Interest in financial administration and working with Excel as a tool - Documented experience with scientific and financial reporting - Documented experience with collaboration and outreach communication - Education in project administration/coordination and leadership - Interest in research and science We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and you must be self-driven and initiative-taking with the ability to collaborate and communicate with people in different disciplines and roles.
