We are a force that brings together, holds, and develops the region. Within Region Västernorrland, we are all part of something greater. About the Operation We want to create conditions for more internationally trained physicians to obtain Swedish medical licensure. We are looking for you to complete a clinical training position to achieve Swedish physician licensure. This position is a temporary assignment where your medical knowledge and skills will be assessed. You will complete your clinical training over six months with continuous supervision by experienced specialist physicians. The planned start date is March 1, 2027, with placement in Sundsvall. Do not wait until the final application date as we review applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis. What Does Clinical Training Involve? Clinical training is a requirement for obtaining Swedish licensure as a physician for those with credentials outside the EU/EES. During the training, you work under supervision to demonstrate your competency in a Swedish clinical environment. When your training is approved and you have completed all other requirements in the National Board of Health and Welfare's pathway to Swedish licensure, you can apply for licensure with the National Board of Health and Welfare. To provide you with the best possible conditions, we have concentrated clinical training in Region Västernorrland at one health center (HC), HC Centrum in Sundsvall. HC Centrum is centrally located in Sundsvall, 400 kilometers north of Stockholm. The city of Sundsvall has approximately 95,000 residents and is beautifully situated by the sea between two mountains. With us, you have the opportunity for language training in the workplace with the region's language instructor. Job Responsibilities You work as a junior physician at the health center. The work includes all typical tasks found at a health center in Sweden with both acute and scheduled patient visits. You meet patients of all ages with all possible medical conditions. Your task is to speak with the patient, perform relevant examinations, suggest further investigation or treatment options together with your supervisor, and document findings. Throughout the training, you work together with your supervisor, with increasing independence as you learn. We hope that after your clinical training, you will be satisfied enough to continue working in Region Västernorrland as a junior physician, BT, ST, and later as a specialist. We also accept applications for clinical training within other operations in Region Västernorrland. However, we do not have fixed positions for these; we will assess the possibility of offering clinical training on a case-by-case basis. Qualifications We are looking for you who: Are a physician with international training and credentials outside the EU/EES. Have passed the National Board of Health and Welfare's theoretical and practical knowledge tests. Have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing. With your application, you must enclose: A decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare stating that the next step is 6 months of clinical training. CV. A personal letter briefly describing who you are, what you are like, and your ambitions for the future. A copy of your migration status from the Swedish Migration Agency (if you are in Sweden). We also recommend that you complete a course in administrative law before starting. Space permitting, we also accept applicants with education from the EU for an opportunity for an introduction to Swedish primary care for individuals with no experience of Swedish healthcare.
