Duties
The Division of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) at the Department of Physics is seeking an ambitious, motivated, well-organized, and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to join the nuclear fuel materials team to study fission product kinetics through ion implantation of advanced nuclear fuel (uranium nitride). The project is supported by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (https://www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se/) and is conducted in collaboration with Westinghouse and Uppsala University. You will lead research efforts using experimental and computational methods to evaluate fission product diffusion kinetics and the formation of high burnup structure (HBS) in uranium nitride.
Qualifications
Requirements
A doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made.
Doctoral degree in nuclear engineering, materials science, technical mechanics, or similar.
Merits
At the application deadline, no more than three years since obtaining a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree.
Practical experience in laboratory work related to sintering, powder metallurgy, and characterization techniques.
Knowledge and experience with modeling techniques within mesoscale and multiphysics finite element modeling.
Good communication skills and proficiency in English, both written and spoken, as required for daily work.
Good collaboration skills and ability to work independently.
Motivation and commitment to research work are strong merits.
Teaching experience is a merit.
Awareness of diversity and equal treatment, with particular focus on gender equality.
