Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Methods for Game Theory and Multiagent Decision-Making

Job Responsibilities Game theory is rapidly gaining ground as the natural framework for decision-making in multiagent systems across several technical applications. However, unlike optimization, game theory lacks mature, general-purpose solvers. Computing an equilibrium in a non-cooperative game among multiple agents involves solving a large-scale generalized equation, and existing solutions rely on restrictive assumptions, provide no control over which equilibrium is returned, and scale poorly. This position addresses the computational side of this gap. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a solid background in one or more of the following areas: game theory, optimization algorithms, and numerical methods for optimal control. The successful candidate will develop efficient algorithms and computational tools for equilibrium computation in multiagent games. The work will focus on: Scalable algorithms for various types of equilibrium problems in games; Open-source computational tools and benchmarks; Real-time and embedded applications of game-theoretic solvers. Qualifications Requirements A doctoral degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This qualification requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made. A strong foundation in the mathematical tools relevant to the project. A documented track record of research results and publications in high-impact venues within control engineering, optimization, or related areas. Good knowledge of scientific programming (e.g., Python, Julia, or C++) and experience implementing optimization algorithms. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in interdisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
