Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher focused on action research and children's and youth participation in the development of outdoor environments. The position is linked to the project "Levande gator - Barns medskapande av trygga stadsrum" (Living Streets - Children's Co-creation of Safe Urban Spaces) and to some extent to teaching in landscape architecture at SLU in Alnarp. About the Position The duties include research, primarily within the Formas-funded project "Levande gator - Barns medskapande av trygga stadsrum," conducted in close collaboration between the organization Växtvärket, SLU, MAU, and the City of Malmö. The project is implemented in street environments in Malmö with a focus on children's participation. It will, among other things, develop a method called safety workshops for co-creation of safe, green street spaces with children and youth. The work includes developing the project's methods, with data collection, documentation, analysis, reporting, and publishing. The position also includes some teaching in landscape architecture, sustainable urban development, and similar subjects, such as development processes in planning and management, as well as social aspects related to different user groups. In the longer term, other research and collaboration projects may be included in the duties. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate in various constellations within the subject group Landscape Governance and Management and with other people and groups at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management, as well as in close collaboration with Växtvärket, MAU, the City of Malmö, and other project and collaboration partners. Your Background The position is intended for an early-career researcher, and we are therefore primarily seeking someone who completed a doctoral degree no more than three years ago. Requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in landscape architecture or a related field (such as physical planning or architecture) and documented merits and experience in: - Research with children and/or youth - Action research and participatory processes, preferably related to outdoor environment development - Proficient knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language and English, both spoken and written Merits for the position include documented experience in: - Teaching in social aspects of landscape architecture or related subjects - Relevant collaboration with societal actors outside academia on the subject - Seeking and obtaining external funding About Us The subject group Landscape Governance and Management is part of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (LAPF), which is part of SLU Landscape at SLU. The subject group has approximately 15 members who, through a focus on management and governance, work collaboratively on issues regarding the operation and development of outdoor environments in relation to various processes, organizations, and actors, within research, collaboration, and teaching. At LAPF, there is a multidisciplinary environment with research in planning, design, management, and vegetation, and extensive teaching activities within several degree programs.
