About the Operation Borås Kulturskola, which has operated for over 80 years, is located in fresh facilities in Simonsland, centrally located in Borås city, and offers courses in music, dance, theater, visual arts, film, textiles and circus. Activities are also conducted at our satellite locations Hässlehuset on Hässleholmen, Norrby and Musikens hus in Fristad. Kulturskolan exists for the municipality's youth and plays a particularly important role in children and young people's free time. Kulturskolan offers approximately 2,500 subject courses per week, conducts cultural school activities at eight primary school branches in the municipality and has commissioned activities in preschools, primary schools, special schools and upper secondary schools. Kulturskolan also offers open activities in creative expression, music and holiday programs. Together, students and teachers create a large outward-facing operation with many performances, concerts and exhibitions each year, making Kulturskolan an important and visible meeting place in the municipality. Job Responsibilities Now you have the opportunity to apply for an exciting and varied temporary position as a piano teacher at Borås Kulturskola, as one of our regular piano teachers is taking educational leave. In this position you will teach piano with a focus on group instruction, although individual lessons also occur. You will teach at different levels, from beginners to upper secondary level. Teaching may also take place in our Kulår program, a one-year try-out course offered to all students in grade 1 in the municipality. You are responsible for organizing, administering and leading instruction in your subject areas as well as planning and conducting concerts and projects together with colleagues. You will become part of a subject team with high ambitions and a strong desire to create meaningful activities for the municipality's children and young people. You plan and conduct instruction with a focus on student development, participation and enjoyment of music and artistic expression. You actively work to give children and young people influence over their learning by utilizing their ideas and interests. Through a responsive and inclusive approach, you adapt instruction to each student's needs and circumstances, and encourage students to take their own initiatives and participate in the content of instruction. Work may involve evening, weekend and school holiday hours. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is passionate about children and young people's development and wants to help Kulturskolan continue to be an important meeting place in the municipality for children and young people. We are looking for someone with experience in group piano instruction and competence in group methodology based on both individual student and group development. You have music teacher education or other appropriate higher education that is suitable for the position. Experience is a requirement. A Class B driver's license is a requirement. We consider it meritorious if you have worked in a cultural school or similar operation. It is also meritorious to have broad genre knowledge and experience working with the StydyAlong program. As a person, you have good collaboration skills, work in a structured manner and demonstrate high personal maturity. We also value cultural awareness, independence and your ability to build good relationships with colleagues, students and guardians. You have good social competence and professional demeanor.
