Welcome to us The Support and Service Department is responsible for leadership, governance and development of elderly care, care for people with disabilities and social psychiatry. The department's mandate includes exercising authority, operating activities under our own management as well as open and preventive support services. The department also has a management support function that provides support in both operational and strategic matters. In recent years, Stockholm has implemented a comprehensive change to the management structure based on the city's common governance model, including the introduction of the Area Manager role. In our district administration, the new organization and management structure is now fully implemented, creating clear conditions for long-term and cohesive leadership. At the same time, the district faces continued strong population growth over the coming decade, which means our operations are also expected to grow in volume. We are now seeking an Area Manager for the LSS Service Unit, which includes group homes, service apartments and day-care activities. Please read more about our benefits within Stockholm here. Your role As Area Manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, finances and personnel in your area. You lead your area through your 11 direct reporting well-qualified unit managers. It is important to us that you are a good role model and ensure that your subordinate unit managers have the conditions to exercise accessible and present leadership, but also that they are given opportunities to be strategists and have opportunities to develop operations. You promote a good work environment and create opportunities for employees to take responsibility, have influence and feel involved. As Area Manager, you have an important mission where you contribute to the development of operations and creating a high-quality operation. Your mission also includes actively monitoring the external environment in your area and collaborating both internally and externally. You are part of the department's management team and report to the Department Head. You contribute to the entire department's development and goal achievement but naturally see your mission beyond that and consider the whole district's needs in front of you and ultimately Stockholm as a whole. Your competence and experience We are looking for you who have: relevant academic education current and several years of management experience current experience leading other managers or strategic specialist functions experience from service operations within LSS basic knowledge of the laws, governance documents and rules that govern your area of operations experience working in a politically governed organization, preferably Stockholm good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing. It is meritorious if you have: experience from both private and public sectors. We place great importance on your personal qualities and to succeed in this role you need the ability to look up and have a holistic perspective while understanding and being able to support your unit managers in their daily work. You have a well-developed analytical ability, understanding of the economic aspects of the work and experience working in a structured manner. Furthermore, you feel confident in your role as a leader, are comfortable making reprioritizations, making decisions and quickly being able to change pace and direction. Through your leadership, you create an understanding of the operation's common goals and thereby create participation and engagement among your employees. You are a development-oriented person who communicates clearly and ensures that expectations are clear. You are also aware of the importance of good collaboration and focus on finding common ground in your collaborative relationships. Your role offers an opportunity to influence the future of care and services by being innovative, inspiring and motivating change. You are skilled at leveraging your employees' expert knowledge within your field of operations and how they can best be used in the area's entirety but also for the whole district and city.
