Do you want to build the structures that ensure patients and people with disabilities have their voices truly heard in Region Uppsala? We are seeking an ombudsman who wants to drive advocacy and shape public opinion, while bringing together collaboration, working groups, and member dialogue in an organization that is currently developing rapidly. About Disability Rights Uppsala County Disability Rights Uppsala County is a politically and religiously independent collaborative body for disability and patient organizations in Uppsala County. Together we work for full participation and equal living conditions for patients and people with disabilities, based on human rights and the disability rights convention (CRPD). We have an idea-driven public partnership (IOP) with Region Uppsala that gives us a central role in regional collaboration, and we are represented in the Council for Participation and in various regional forums and working groups. Our office is located at Kungsgatan 64 in central Uppsala, in the same building as several of our member organizations. About the Position As ombudsman, you are the hub of the organization between the member organizations, working groups, the board and Region Uppsala, and the person who leads public opinion formation. You coordinate the practical advocacy work, ensure that working groups function and report back, maintain active contact with member organizations, and lead the organization for regional forums and consultations. The organization is in a development phase where working methods, structure and procedures are being established. You will have significant influence over how the work is shaped, in close collaboration with the board and office staff. Your Main Responsibilities • Contribute to shaping and drive the organization's advocacy work. • Take responsibility for the organization's consultation responses. • Coordinate the organization's working groups. Support planning, meeting invitations and implementation, contribute to uniform working methods and ensure documentation and reporting to the board. • Maintain contact with member organizations. Gather input and priorities, anchor issues and help more organizations become involved in joint processes. • Coordinate ongoing contacts with Region Uppsala and other regional actors, prepare participation in meetings and consultations, and ensure feedback is provided back to the board and affected organizations. • Take responsibility for following up and reporting on the organization's commitments in the IOP agreement with Region Uppsala. • Contribute to information dissemination and internal communication. We Are Looking for Someone Who • Has relevant higher education (e.g. political scientist, lawyer, public health scientist) or experience that we consider equivalent. • Has experience with advocacy work, collaboration with public actors or similar work in a member-led organization. • Is experienced in independently driving processes forward. Call meetings, keep threads together, document and follow up. • Expresses yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and can adapt complex information to different audiences. • Has the ability to build trust and collaborate with many different people, organization representatives, officials and politicians. • Has a good understanding of how a nonprofit organization is governed, and the difference between the board's role and that of staff. • Shares the organization's values and has a rights-based perspective on disability rights issues. Meritorious It is meritorious if you have: • Previous management or leadership experience, preferably from the idea-driven sector. • Knowledge of the disability rights movement and its organization, locally, regionally or nationally. • Familiarity with Region Uppsala's organization, decision-making processes and collaboration structures. • Experience with health and medical care issues. • Experience building working methods and procedures in a developing organization. • Experience with consultation responses, investigations or preparing materials for a board.
