Do you want to develop your skills in geotechnics and work with both technical calculations and practical fieldwork? AFRY is now seeking an entry-level geotechnical engineer to join their team in Stockholm. You will work with, among other things: Planning geotechnical field investigations and technical execution Coordination regarding permits, traffic, utilities, and other prerequisites for fieldwork Participation in fieldwork to build understanding of the investigation process and practical conditions Processing and reporting of data and test results Presentation of geotechnical information through CAD/GIS drawings Geotechnical design and calculations Development and management of drawing materials Support to senior colleagues in various parts of projects You typically work on multiple projects in parallel, usually around three to five projects at a time, though the scope varies depending on project size. This role is ideal for you if you're at the beginning of your career and want to build broad understanding of geotechnics. We're primarily looking for someone who is newly graduated and wants to apply your theoretical knowledge in practice. During your introduction, you'll learn the process from the ground up and go out into the field to understand how investigations are conducted and what practical conditions affect the work. You don't need to perform advanced calculations on day one. Initially, the focus is on processing data, supporting more senior colleagues, and gradually building your technical competence. Over time, you'll take on greater responsibility in projects and develop in areas that interest you. In the long term, there's an opportunity to specialize in, for example, geotechnical calculations, design of geoconstructions, and develop toward a specialist role. Requirements Civil engineering degree with a focus on geotechnics or other relevant educational background with clear connection to geotechnics Relevant courses in, for example, soil mechanics and geotechnics Swedish and English, both spoken and written Interest in technical calculations and desire to develop within geotechnics Meritorious Thesis within geotechnics Experience with or knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D Experience with GIS Knowledge of calculation software such as GeoStudio/Slope, Plaxis, or Flac2D/3D B-class driver's license Who Are You? We're looking for someone who is curious, technically interested, and wants to develop within geotechnics. As a person, you're collaborative and unpretentious. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and aren't afraid to ask for help when you need it. You're confident in what you know while remaining humble about what you don't yet master. You're also flexible and appreciate the variety in the role. Even if you have a particular interest in, for example, calculations, you need to enjoy contributing where needed and be able to switch between planning, analysis, coordination, and fieldwork.
