Romanian Native Language Teacher for the Multilingual Activities Program
Linköpings kommun · Full-time
Linköpings kommun, Utbildningsförvaltningen, Linköping, Sweden
With the native language as a foundation, we build pride, knowledge, and confidence in the future for every student – and create bridges between cultures for a richer school experience. Your responsibilities Do you want to give children and young people the key to their multilingualism and strengthen their achievement in school? As a Romanian native language teacher, you have a stimulating and independent assignment where you plan, implement, follow up on, and assess instruction based on the curriculum in the native language subject and applicable grading criteria. The role also involves providing study guidance in the student's native language when needed, which means individualized support where you help individual students grasp the content of the subject. Your work is characterized by great flexibility as your day is based on teaching at various primary and secondary schools throughout Linköping Municipality (including independent schools). Depending on the size of the language group, you teach either in student groups assembled at a central school or at the student's home school. Instruction takes place outside students' regular schedules and occurs primarily in the afternoons immediately following the end of the school day, but in individual cases may also take place in the morning. Digital tools are a natural part of instruction and documentation of student learning progression. You work closely with students' guardians and collaborate closely with classroom teachers and staff at the schools involved. Your workplace The Multilingual Activities Program is part of the Special and Support Services Division and has municipality-wide responsibility for native language instruction and study guidance in primary school, adapted primary school, secondary school, and adapted secondary school. Together with the schools, we have the responsibility to give students the opportunity to develop their multilingualism, multicultural identity and competence, and increase their achievement. We are driven by our strong values where quality, knowledge, safety, and joy are at the center of providing each student with the best possible conditions to grow. With us, you will be part of a multicultural and engaged collegium. We are organized into work teams, teaching groups, and language groups where we develop the program together and share experiences. As a new Romanian native language teacher with us, you will have a secure start. We use a structured introduction plan where you are assigned a personal mentor and receive close support from a work team leader. Through our network of experienced colleagues and collaborative learning, we create a workplace where you receive support throughout your pedagogical assignment. You who are applying First, we are looking for you who have a Swedish teaching license with competence in the native language Romanian. Second, you who have a completed teaching degree from another country (for foreign degrees, it must be validated by the Swedish Council for Higher Education, UHR). Third, you who have an academic background consisting of at least 30 higher education credits in the Romanian language, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. It is a requirement for the position that you have experience with curriculum-based schools, which means you are well familiar with the curriculum's objectives, structure, and values. It is a merit if your experience specifically comes from native language instruction. The position places high demands on your communication skills. You must have documented good knowledge of Romanian in speech and writing, and a very high level of Swedish language proficiency in both speech and writing (corresponding to at least Swedish as a Second Language 3/B). A high level of Swedish is necessary for you to independently be able to absorb information, work according to the Swedish curriculum (Lgr22), manage documentation and grading in our digital systems, and collaborate with classroom teachers and principals at the schools. You have good computer skills and see digital tools as a natural element in your work. Since the work involves moving between up to 10–15 different schools during a week across Linköping Municipality, high demands are placed on your logistical ability. It is therefore a great advantage if you have a Class B driver's license and access to a car for work, or alternatively that you can cycle or use public transportation. As a person, you are flexible and have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances as you build your work week across different schools. You are social and communicative, have an easy time creating trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians alike, and are comfortable taking your place in new settings. You are organized, take great personal responsibility for planning and prioritizing your work systematically, and remain calm even in stressful or changing situations. You have a genuine interest in seeing each student's unique circumstances and helping them grow in their learning journey. Other information In this application, you do not attach a personal letter.
