The Competence Center for Multilingualism works to provide students with the opportunity to receive instruction in their native language and study support in the language they speak best. The organization currently represents 38 different languages. We collaborate with both municipal and independent school authorities, from preschool class through upper secondary school.
Students who have at least one guardian with a native language other than Swedish have the opportunity to study their language as a school subject. Through native language instruction, students strengthen their multilingualism, develop their identity, and build pride in their language and background.
We are now hiring a native language teacher in Nuer!
Employment Information
This position is a fixed-term part-time appointment at 20%. Start according to agreement, through December 31, 2026.
Your Work Tasks
Working as a native language teacher is a dynamic and varied position where the student base guides planning. You visit different schools throughout the municipality—both centrally and in outlying areas—to meet students in their school environment.
Your role may include the following tasks:
- Native language instruction
- Study support in the native language
- Distance learning and distance tutoring
- Language support initiatives in collaboration with the Reception Unit Hej Umeå
Study support means you assist students in grades 1–9 and in the Language Introduction program at upper secondary school. Support can take place before, during, or after class time. You work closely with the mentor and subject teachers, who are responsible for planning, while you provide support in the native language to strengthen the student's knowledge development.
This may include support to the Hej Umeå Reception Unit when welcoming newly arrived students, for example through information meetings and language assessments.

Requirements
- Nuer as your native language with documented proficiency in it
- Approved Swedish B/Swedish 2
- Good digital skills
- Teacher education, Swedish or foreign—alternatively other pedagogical experience
- Valid extract from the criminal record register, due to the Fitness Check Act
