About the Company GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring harnesses, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division working with aircraft engine parts together form Engines, and at the facility in Trollhättan, advanced components for aircraft and space rocket engines are developed and manufactured. They also work with engine maintenance. GKN Aerospace has production facilities in Trollhättan, Kongsberg (Norway), Mexico, and the USA. They also have an engineering office in Bangalore, India and offices in Stockholm (Public Affairs) and Gothenburg. The headquarters for Engines is located in Trollhättan. Your Responsibilities Within Governmental Solutions in Trollhättan, extensive testing of aircraft engines and engine-related systems is conducted. The operation is entering an exciting development phase where existing facilities are being modernized while new testing resources are being built for next-generation aircraft engine systems. We are now seeking a mechanical design engineer for the operation who wants to contribute technical expertise, creativity, and drive in the development of testing and test facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to combine design, project work, and operations-focused problem-solving in an environment where technology and innovation are central. You will become part of a team of 12 engineers responsible for the development, improvement, and maintenance of the equipment and engine testing facilities. As a mechanical design engineer, you will work on the development, improvement, and management of mechanical installations and technical systems in our testing facilities. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues in several technical areas as well as with internal and external customers. Some of your main responsibilities will be to: Develop and design mechanical solutions for equipment and engine testing facilities. Prepare technical documentation such as 3D models, drawings, and documentation in NX and AutoCAD. Participate in investment projects, improvement initiatives, and technical assignments with responsibility for time, cost, and quality. You will work both from the office and on-site in the operation, which provides a good understanding of how the designs are used in practice and the opportunity to follow solutions all the way from idea to finished installation. Your Profile Requirements for the position: A degree in mechanical engineering, product development, or equivalent competence acquired through experience. Several years of experience as a mechanical design engineer and practical experience with CAD design in NX and/or AutoCAD. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Ability to work in a structured and methodical manner with a focus on quality and safety. A genuine technical interest and desire to develop and improve technical solutions. It is advantageous if you have experience with: Maintenance work in industrial facilities. Technical project management or project work. Testing equipment, process industry, or other operations-focused technical environments. To thrive in the role, we believe you are curious, solution-oriented, and take initiative. You find it easy to collaborate with different functions and naturally build good relationships. At the same time, you are self-driven and take responsibility for moving your tasks forward. The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current security regulations.
