We are currently seeking employees for the On-Call Laboratory in Västerås, where clinical chemistry is the primary focus, along with some molecular biology analyses. Our team uses the latest technology in newly renovated, highly functional facilities and contributes around the clock to making a difference in the care chain and for the residents of Västmanland. Does this sound interesting? Then this might be the job for you. Job Responsibilities Our laboratory is open 24/7 and you will work in many exciting areas with a wide range of analyses. Your responsibilities include analyzing and reporting clinical samples from across Västmanland. Many of the analyses are urgent with response times under one hour. The laboratory has several different workstations with specific instruments for each analysis area. In the team, you rotate between the different stations, which requires the ability to switch between multiple different work tasks and make correct prioritizations, while also ensuring that the analysis meets our quality requirements. With us, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge related to our various processes of clinical chemistry, coagulation, hematological, and immunochemical analyses, as well as blood group serology with blood dispensing. You will also handle urgent molecular biology analyses and blood culture management. Working at the On-Call Laboratory means varied, meaningful, and developmental work. About the Workplace At Laboratory Medicine, you are welcomed to an operation that covers the specialties of clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine. We have approximately 200 employees and are located at four hospitals in Västmanland. With the patient and our customers in focus, we deliver services to healthcare in the form of sample collection and reporting, blood components, functional examinations, and care of the deceased. Laboratory Medicine works for good and safe care in the right time. We employ professional categories such as biomedical scientists, physicians, cytologists, nurses, nursing assistants, molecular biologists, chemists, and laboratory engineers. Laboratory Medicine is accredited according to ISO 15189 standard. At the On-Call Laboratory in Västerås, you will meet an experienced, competent, and collegial work group consisting of approximately 40 employees working in a change-oriented operation focused on the patient. Experience with laboratory work and familiarity with analytical instruments is a merit, as is previous work with or knowledge of validating test results. We also see it as a great advantage if you have experience in quality work. Furthermore, you need basic IT skills and should be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as you will have many points of contact. To thrive in the role and succeed with the tasks, personal competencies are also important. That you are a team player with good collaboration skills while being able to work independently is a given. The responsibility in the work tasks requires that you are thorough as a person, but also flexible and receptive to changes within the operation, which demands your ability to prioritize. You also have the ability to manage multiple parallel processes and tasks.
