Mechanical Engineer at Stålverket – Outokumpu Avesta Are you a curious and solution-oriented engineer with an interest in mechanics, technical development, and heavy industry? We are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer at Stålverket in Avesta who wants to help drive our operations forward. What does the role entail? As a Mechanical Engineer, you will become an important technical resource within Asset Management and work to ensure that our production equipment delivers the right quality, availability, and safety based on both design requirements and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with production, maintenance, reliability engineers, project organizations, and external suppliers. The role combines technical problem-solving with long-term development and investments. You will work with technical feasibility studies, root cause analyses, risk assessments, and development of our long-term investment plans. Your main responsibilities are to: • Identify, analyze, and manage risks related to functional safety and equipment reliability. • Support and participate in root cause analyses and propose technical improvements. • Evaluate replacement solutions for aging and obsolete equipment. • Contribute to long-term investment plans based on lifecycle and reliability analyses. • Participate in requirements definition, procurement, and follow-up for investments and installations. • Lead technical feasibility studies, including budget, scheduling, and coordination of affected functions. • Perform technical analyses and calculations within areas such as strength, material selection, and simulation. • Ensure that mechanical documentation is correct, up to date, and follows our standards. • Participate in and review technical changes through our Management of Change process (MOC). We would like to see that you have • A degree in mechanical engineering or another relevant technical field at a university of applied sciences or higher level. • Experience with operational safety, technical development, or similar work in heavy industry or process industry. • Good understanding of mechanical equipment and technical analyses. • Good computer skills and experience with Office 365 and relevant maintenance or documentation systems. • Good ability to work with technical documentation, report writing, and investigations. • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is meritorious if you have experience with investment projects, root cause analyses, risk analyses, technical feasibility studies, FEM/CFD, strength calculations, or Management of Change. In this role, we offer a salary between 39,000–49,000 SEK/month, based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and geographical location.
