A snapshot of your day Do you want to combine your materials engineering expertise with supplier development, problem-solving, and international collaboration? As a materials engineer working with our supply chain, you will play a central role in ensuring that our suppliers have the right technical capabilities to manufacture components for our gas turbines with high quality, performance, and delivery precision. You will serve as the technical link between design, procurement, quality, production, and our internal and external manufacturers. The role involves close collaboration with many different functions where you contribute expertise in materials, manufacturing processes, and quality matters. You are responsible for qualifying new suppliers, developing existing suppliers' technical capabilities, and driving improvement initiatives in manufacturing and quality. The work encompasses both strategic and operational matters and gives you the opportunity to influence future products, processes, and supplier networks. The role includes regular supplier visits in Sweden and internationally, normally around one trip per month. How you will make an impact In this role, you will: Represent R&D in qualifying and developing new and existing suppliers. Ensure that technical requirements, drawings, specifications, and process requirements are understood and implemented by our manufacturers. Conduct technical evaluations, audits, and capability assessments of suppliers. Collaborate with procurement, quality, design, and production to develop robust and long-term supplier solutions. Manage technical deviations and quality issues related to compressor components. Participate in or lead root cause analyses and drive corrective and preventive actions. Contribute to continuous improvements in manufacturing, quality, and supplier performance. Further develop work methods, processes, and strategies for supplier qualification. What you bring We are looking for someone with a master's degree, or equivalent, in materials engineering, materials science, or a related engineering field, plus approximately five years of relevant experience. You have good knowledge in: Metallurgy Material characterization Mechanical testing Manufacturing processes and materials engineering To succeed in this role, you need to be a skilled communicator who enjoys collaborating across functional boundaries. You have a structured way of working, a strong technical interest, and a natural ability to build trusting relationships. You are motivated by working at the interface between technology, quality, and business decisions and see the value in developing both suppliers and internal work methods to create long-term results. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Knowledge of Swedish is highly desirable. About the department You will become part of the Materials and Chemical Engineering department, which is located in its own building with modern laboratories and advanced equipment. Here you will find, among other things, laboratories for mechanical testing and a fully equipped metallography laboratory. The department consists of 15 engaged employees with broad expertise in materials engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, and testing.
