We are now seeking a mechanical engineer or designer for a consulting assignment with our client in the manufacturing industry in Linköping. The assignment focuses on analyzing and reducing scrap in production by identifying root causes, prioritizing measures, and driving these from analysis through implementation and follow-up. The role suits you if you have several years of relevant experience and are comfortable working independently close to production, quality, and tool maintenance. About the Assignment Our client has identified elevated scrap levels in the manufacturing of oil coolers, while there are also deviations in internally manufactured stainless steel plates. As a consultant, you will be responsible for analyzing available documentation, identifying appropriate measures, and coordinating and following up on implementation. You will, among other things: • Analyze and interpret existing measurement protocols and available process data. • Assess the need for additional measurements, such as measurement of tool parts. • Compare historical measurement results for tool parts with the outcome of manufactured components. • Identify and recommend measures such as component replacement, adjustment, or design modification of tool parts. • Where necessary, update geometry and documentation for affected tool parts in CAD or with the help of a subcontractor. • Prepare and order manufacturing, procurement, or maintenance work and create necessary work orders. • Ensure the quality of new or modified parts before assembly. • Follow up and evaluate results after completed adjustments and component replacements. Work is prioritized on an ongoing basis with the responsible manager and conducted in close collaboration with, among others, process engineer, quality/measurement function, and tool maintenance. Since current capacity within process engineering is limited, you need to be able to independently drive the work forward. Requirements We are looking for you who: • Are a mechanical engineer, designer, or have corresponding relevant background. • Have several years of relevant experience. • Have an understanding of forming tools and the manufacturing of tool parts through machining. • Have experience with CAD and can work with geometry and design documentation for tool parts. • Are analytical and systematic and can independently break down deviations into clear activities, measures, and timelines. • Have the ability to drive analysis, coordination, implementation, and follow-up in collaboration with multiple functions. Other Information Scope: 100%, full-time. Place of work: Linköping. Work model: on-site. Assignment period: initially 1–3 months with possibility of extension. Send your CV and a few lines about yourself to [email protected]. We review applications on an ongoing basis.
