Make a difference. Every day. Speech-Language Pathology Clinic 1 is part of the Specialized Surgery department at Skåne University Hospital, where we are part of the Otolaryngology operations. The clinic is located in bright and fresh facilities in Västra Hamnen in Malmö. The clinic has 30 speech-language pathologists and three medical secretaries on staff. The speech-language pathology team has both depth and breadth; some pathologists have many years of experience while others are early in their careers. We see patients of all ages for support with speech, language, voice, fluency, reading, writing, numeracy, and eating and swallowing abilities. We accept a large number of speech-language pathology students for clinical practice placements and see it as a matter of course that everyone helps prepare our future colleagues for the profession. DUTIES Your duties will include speech-language pathology interventions for children (0-17 years) with eating and swallowing difficulties. The work takes place both in outpatient care and with departments such as neonatal, pediatric neurology, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric surgery. In inpatient care, work may also include language and communication interventions. The children often have complex medical conditions. Eating and swallowing difficulties in children will not occupy the entire position, but we will supplement with other tasks based on your preferences and the clinic's needs. As a new member of our team, you will receive an introduction and a mentor within the relevant diagnostic areas. Specialized forums exist for diagnosis-specific questions and case discussions. You are expected to stay current with relevant evidence and participate in our quality and development work. The primary placement is at the Speech-Language Pathology Clinic in Malmö, with some work at hospital sites in Malmö and/or Lund. The majority of work is conducted individually, but we also have co-booked appointments with other professional categories and parent education programs. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome you if you are a licensed speech-language pathologist authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language proficiency equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is required. We are looking for someone who is engaged and confident in your professional role. You take personal responsibility and have the ability to prioritize among your tasks. You have a strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and partners. The position requires flexibility as work takes place at different physical locations and sometimes requires quick reprioritization. You have experience assessing and treating eating and swallowing difficulties in children. You have SOS training or equivalent knowledge. You also have a strong ability to communicate information to patients and colleagues and are confident presenting lectures/training. We appreciate that you have experience with teamwork. Please describe in your application any additional experience, for example if you have led development projects in this area, have experience with swallowing radiography, FEES (fiberendoscopic evaluation of swallowing), or work with patients with swallowing anxiety.
