About the Unit 161st Air Defense Battalion's main task is to be responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace and air combat control; the battalion is engaged in operational activities on a daily basis. Other tasks include operation and protection of fortified command posts as well as deployment of mobile sensors and radio systems throughout Sweden. The Battalion Staff primarily works with coordination and preparation of matters at all conflict levels, from peace to war. The Staff consists of four sections, one of which is the Implementation Section where this position is also located. Primary Work Tasks As a Logistics Officer, you will be positioned at the 161st Air Defense Battalion Staff. You work in close collaboration with other staff members where you have central responsibility for the battalion's logistics function and supply provision and become an important part of the work to plan, coordinate, and lead the battalion's operations. The position is called Logistics Officer, but corresponds to a Battalion Quartermaster in other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces. You support the Battalion Commander, Staff Chief, and subordinate companies in logistics-related matters. You plan both long-term and operationally. One day may involve mobilization preparations and the battalion's long-term material supply, and the next day you are occupied with solving concrete problems with material, transport, and maintenance. You have many contact points internally and externally within the battalion and the rest of the Swedish Armed Forces and translate operational needs into practical, implementable supply solutions. Ultimately, you enable and execute, together with other staff members, the operational companies' ability to carry out their main tasks. The Logistics Officer's primary tasks: Responsible for the battalion's supply provision Advisor and representative for the logistics function within the battalion Establish and monitor the logistics situational picture Plan, implement, and follow up material and supply provision, technical service, transport, medical services, etc. War planning and mobilization preparations Contribute to development of the battalion's logistics Support the unit with functional command during operations, exercises, and daily activities Cooperate with superior and lateral functional command levels Conduct exercises and official travel nationally and internationally Support the battalion staff with other tasks REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Professional Officer Degree (SO or OF) Driver's License Class B Personal Qualities You are structured, take initiative, unpretentious, and solution-oriented. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala Airport as well as training of conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also commands the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion which provides combat control for fighter aircraft in the air and maintains continuous monitoring of Swedish airspace.
