Kungl. Musikhögskolan i Stockholm (KMH) is Sweden's only independent state university college for higher music education. KMH educates over 1200 students annually at the highest international level in educational programs including folk music, jazz, classical music, conducting, composition, music production, and various teacher education programs with a music focus. KMH also conducts research and research education in music and music pedagogy, and participates in extensive artistic and pedagogical research and development projects in Sweden and internationally. KMH hereby announces a position as Lecturer in Choral Conducting at the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory Start date: Fall semester 2027 or by agreement. The position is time-limited to 3 years on an artistic basis (with possibility of extension) and comprises 40%. Description of the subject area KMH offers Sweden's only bachelor's program in choral conducting. We are now seeking a lecturer with a strong ability to inspire and foster interest in this subject. Job responsibilities Teaching, supervision and examination of students in the artistic bachelor's program in choral conducting and, where applicable, students in the church music and teacher education programs. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English. Active participation and contribution to artistic, theoretical and pedagogical development within the field of choral conducting. Active participation in KMH's and the department's internal work, which includes meetings and development work, admissions exams and projects. Administrative tasks such as, for example, program director duties may occur. Cooperation with the surrounding society, primarily the country's choral music community. Eligibility requirements and other requirements Eligible for employment as a lecturer in artistic activities is a person who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and either holds a doctoral degree, possesses equivalent artistic competence, or has other professional expertise of significance in relation to the position's subject content and the work tasks involved. Artistic skill must be demonstrated through artistic practice at least at a high national level and the ability to develop and lead artistic activities of high quality. Pedagogical skill must be demonstrated through well-documented teaching and/or supervision at both basic and advanced levels, as well as the ability to develop, lead and conduct education of high quality. To carry out the work tasks for this position, the applicant must also have: Administrative skill. Strong ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Good collaboration skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students in their learning. Meritorious qualifications Experience of and knowledge about the Swedish higher education system. Higher education pedagogy course of 10 weeks or equivalent 15 credits. Selection criteria Among eligible applicants, artistic and pedagogical skill will be weighted equally. Artistic skill is assessed through: Experience in artistic activities within the subject area at least at a high national level. Pedagogical skill is assessed through: Ability to conduct education of high quality at higher education level. Ability to maintain a reflective approach to one's teaching. Administrative skill is assessed through: Administrative experience and skill within the framework of the work tasks. Collaboration ability is assessed through: Ability to work well with other people and relate to them in a responsive manner. Ability to motivate and inspire students is assessed through: The ability to create a stimulating learning environment. Knowledge of Swedish and English is assessed through: Experience of teaching in Swedish and English.
