Journalism is one of the larger subjects at Södertörns högskola and is located at the Department of Social Sciences. There are two undergraduate programs and a research-oriented master's program as well as doctoral education. Additionally, a one-year journalism program for academics is offered. The subject environment is characterized by a combination of theory and practice in teaching and a focus on new media forms and media development. There is also well-developed research activity within journalism. Duties A lecturer typically works with education, research, and development activities, although emphasis may vary depending on the assignment. Research duties may include conducting independent research, applying for research funding, collaboration assignments, and active participation in the academic community through tasks such as manuscript and application review, expert consultation, and presentations. Teaching duties may include developing and delivering education at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, collaboration, and supervision and examination of students and doctoral candidates. For this position, linguistic and stylistic understanding as well as the ability to write in Swedish, and the ability to support students' linguistic and stylistic development, are particularly important. A lecturer may also have managerial duties. Administrative tasks may also occur (such as assignments as program coordinator, subject coordinator). Teaching is primarily in Swedish and to some extent in English. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a lecturer in journalism, the applicant must have demonstrated pedagogical skill in journalism or media-related subjects and hold a doctoral degree in journalism or media and communication sciences, or have equivalent scientific competence. The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogy training of at least 7.5 credits or have equivalent competence. The applicant must also possess the personal qualities necessary to perform the position well and to represent the institution in a way that benefits its activities. For this position, the applicant must be proficient in teaching in both Swedish and English. Scientific skill is demonstrated through scientific publications in journalism and media, participation in research projects, research collaborations, collaboration assignments, contributions to the development of the subject area, and through assignments as an expert, editor, or equivalent. Pedagogical skill is demonstrated through high-quality and substantial teaching in journalism, participation in pedagogical development work, a self-reflective approach to student learning and experiences as well as one's own teaching role, collaboration initiatives, research-connected higher education, and course development. Evaluation Criteria When employing a lecturer, the degree of skill required for eligibility shall apply. For this position, scientific and pedagogical skill will be weighted equally. For this position, the following evaluation criteria have also been established (in ranked order). The following points must be documented.
