Play therapy is a unique educational activity where we meet children, young people, and their families at H.K.H. Crown Princess Victoria's Children's and Youth Hospital. Through play, stimulation, and processing, we create opportunities for safety, recovery, and development during hospital stays. Job Description As a play therapist, you meet patients and families both in the play therapy facilities and individually in patient rooms. You are responsible for ensuring that children and young people are offered individually adapted activities and opportunities for play, stimulation, and processing based on age, developmental level, individual needs, and wishes. You work with great independence within shared frameworks to create positive experiences even in difficult situations. The goal is to support the child's continued development during the hospital stay. An important part of the play therapist's work is to make children's needs visible and advocate for these needs to be met. This might include, for example, preparing children for procedures and treatments. As a play therapist, you also participate in work with needle-anxious/procedure-anxious children and young people who are cared for at the hospital. You will document some of your interventions. The role also includes teaching in preschool class for children who are hospitalized. Work Team Play therapy is in constant development and has a good work environment with high participation. We are three play therapists and together have regular reflections on the challenging situations we face, with the aim of strengthening and supporting each other. We collaborate extensively with different parts of healthcare and various professions. Organizationally, play therapy belongs to the paramedical unit with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, curators, psychologists, play therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and nurses. About You We are looking for a certified preschool teacher or youth recreation instructor with at least five years of experience working in educational activities after completing your qualification. Valid certification is a requirement. Meriting qualifications include experience working with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and/or special education competence acquired through training, courses, and/or practical experience. Work in play therapy is multifaceted and differs from other educational activities. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is curious and humble about a new assignment, within an activity where educational work must be adapted to different children and care situations. The work places great demands on maturity, flexibility, creativity, attentiveness, and ability to collaborate. Of course, you find it easy to communicate with children, young people, and their families. You are confident in yourself and your professional role, which means you quickly create trusting encounters. You have the ability to work with a holistic perspective, are solution-focused, and want to work toward the development of the activity, the group, and your personal growth.
