Description Älvegårdsskolan AGR is a small grades 1–9 school that opened in fall 2026 and currently consists of two classes where students learn through both traditional subjects and thematic areas. We are now seeking an after-school program teacher who wants to help shape our new adapted elementary school. The school is located between the sea and forest in Torslanda, surrounded by beautiful natural areas. Älvegårdsskolan AGR works together with Lillebyskolan Hisingen 12. The schools are close to each other, and the leadership team consists of one principal and two assistant principals. Around our students is a large staff group – teachers and student assistants. There is a student support team with a school nurse, psychologist, counselor, and special education teacher. When Älvegårdsskolan is fully developed in a few years, it will consist of 5 classes for students with intellectual disabilities. Job Responsibilities As an after-school program teacher, you are responsible for designing and adapting the after-school program activities to meet each student's specific needs. The position includes classroom instruction two days per week where you lead the teaching and support students and student assistants. Instruction often starts from a concrete experience such as an excursion, assignment, or study visit. You have an important role in developing and leading our newly opened after-school program. In our activities, we use clarifying pedagogy and a low-affect approach. We work to develop students' communication for learning and to give them the best possible foundation for life. You meet children with different needs and circumstances and contribute to their development both at school and in the after-school program. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a certified after-school program teacher. You are well versed in the regulations governing the after-school program's mission and the adapted elementary school curriculum. You have experience with intellectual disabilities and knowledge of low-affect approaches. It is a plus if you - are trained as a special education teacher with specialization in intellectual disabilities - have experience adapting instruction based on students' individual needs - have experience working in adapted elementary schools - have competence in TAKK and/or AKK (alternative and augmentative communication) As a person, you are calm and confident and can balance the demands placed on you and make well-founded decisions despite time pressure. You bring new ideas and take initiative for improvements while regularly reflecting on what needs to be developed in the program. You can quickly adjust your perspective and approach and see opportunities in change. You work well with others by listening, showing interest and respect. You understand the shared mission and work to achieve it. You have a good understanding of how individuals learn and their different circumstances.
