Teacher in After-School Program, Adapted Elementary School Grades 1-3, Lunnaskolan
Härryda kommun · Full-time
Skolvägen 1, Mölnlycke, Sweden
1 position(s). Your Workplace Lunnaskolan in Landvetter is an elementary school with grades F-3 (1-4 from July 2028) and an adapted elementary school with three classes for grades 1-3. The school is located on a hilly property with natural surroundings nearby and access to facilities such as an ice rink and library within walking distance. Approximately 400 students and around 70 employees are present daily. The adapted elementary school currently has three classes with 17 students and approximately 15 staff members. The adapted elementary school operates as its own unit represented across four different schools in the municipality; two in Mölnlycke and two in Landvetter, led by a principal and assistant principal. Your Assignment The Teacher in After-School Program has a two-part assignment. You are responsible for structuring, planning, leading, and evaluating the after-school program. You work from governing documents and curriculum guidelines for after-school instruction. Your planning for students also serves as instructions for student assistants; therefore, you need strong teaching skills and the ability to lead other adults. You oversee, coordinate, and staff the daily after-school activities. During school breaks, the after-school program offers full-day activities that need to be planned and structured to provide students with meaningful, understandable, and manageable experiences based on individual needs. The second part of your assignment is also shared. This may involve working in the classroom alongside mentors and student assistants as pedagogical expertise and support. This allows you to understand the overall operations and get to know students and colleagues in different contexts. You may also independently teach a subject during the school day for which you have the appropriate certification. You are part of a team consisting mainly of teachers, special education teachers, and student assistants. Collaboration around students is a cornerstone of the program. As a Teacher in After-School Program, you are expected to participate in team meetings and other meetings, as well as engage in our professional development initiatives. You will receive ongoing guidance in your role from a teacher/special education teacher. Working in the after-school program involves a rotating schedule where you will be responsible for both opening and closing the after-school activities. What This Position Requires We are looking for someone who is curious about a new challenge! You are interested in shaping an exciting education for students with intellectual disabilities and enjoy collaborating with the elementary school. You are trained as a Teacher in After-School Program, or have other education that the employer considers equivalent. Prior experience working in adapted elementary school and/or working with children and youth with intellectual disabilities combined with NPF and/or language disorders is a merit. You are well-versed in the school's governing documents and base your program planning on them. You develop learning environments that match students' needs, have good knowledge of functional variations and how best to compensate for them. You use clarifying pedagogy through TAKK, visual supports, and digital learning tools as standard components of instruction. You work with a low-affect approach and are a strong relationship builder. Your view of students is characterized by a belief that all students can and should develop their full potential. You demonstrate excellent collaboration skills with all colleagues. You can lead other adults and view learning holistically—where both after-school and school programs contribute to student development. You skillfully engage and capture students' interests, showing with a big heart that you see each student. Students' individual circumstances demand high levels of your flexibility and creativity, making this rewarding and engaging work. At the same time, structure, predictability, and systematic approaches are essential for students' well-being and development. We warmly welcome your application! To be hired, you must provide an extract from the Police Register of Criminal Records. An extract from the suspicion register may also be required depending on the position.
