Ref: 20262132 Job Responsibilities Due to an upcoming retirement, Agnesfrids gymnasium is seeking a new school counselor who wants to contribute to students' learning, health, and development. The counselor's role is to assist the school with psychosocial expertise at all organizational levels and contribute to school development. The role also includes working to establish well-functioning student health services that support students' development toward educational goals. The main job responsibilities include: Conduct individual sessions with students on school-related issues Conducting individual assessment and referral sessions to other services Conduct group sessions with students Collaborate with students' guardians, school staff, and external authorities and organizations Supervise and inform school staff on psychosocial matters Participate in the school's student health team and contribute psychosocial expertise Participate in the school's systematic quality and development work Work with students' work environment by contributing to the school's preventive and promotion efforts in areas such as values, equal treatment, attendance action plans, crisis management, substance abuse, and bullying Contribute knowledge to teaching, for example ANDT Conduct assessments for admission to special education Handle study financial matters Supervise social work candidates Document in counselor records in Prorenata Qualifications Requirements: Social Work degree (210 ECTS credits) Several years of experience in social work with focus on children and youth Solid understanding of the school's goals and governing documents Strong digital skills Excellent Swedish, both spoken and written Meritorious: Training in motivational interviewing Experience working as a school counselor in schools Experience working with children and youth within social services Good experience collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks The counselor role requires you to be confident in your professional role and have the ability to handle complex issues at both individual and system levels. You analyze problems, find solutions, and manage your work independently and in a structured manner. You adapt easily to changing circumstances, absorb new information, and see opportunities in new situations. You also communicate clearly, listen actively, and build trust in meetings with students, guardians, and colleagues. You work well with other professionals and work relationally, with respect and responsiveness. Furthermore, you value differences and understand how background, culture, and group belonging affect yourself and others. About the Workplace Agnesfrids gymnasium is a small school with strong community spirit. It offers both upper secondary and adult education in vocational and introductory programs for students interested in electrical, technical, automotive, and transport fields.
