Description Nordhemsskolan is located in the heart of Linnéstaden, at a convenient distance from the city center and Slottsskogen with everything the park has to offer. You can easily reach the school as the tram and bus networks converge at Järntorget, just north of the school. The school has just over 750 students, of whom approximately 75 are in lower and middle grades. The school consists of a regular elementary school and an adapted elementary school, led by a team comprising a principal, three assistant principals, and approximately 100 staff members. Nordhemsskolan works with PALS – a school-wide approach based on relationship building, clarity, and structure. The school has a music profile where all students receive extra music lessons beyond the standard curriculum. Job Responsibilities As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student support team and contribute psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student support services, you collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, school psychologist, school physician, and principal. The team's mission is to work together with the principal and teaching staff to promote health and prevent problems in order to strengthen children and young people's ability to achieve their goals. Your duties include, for example, participating in the school's ongoing values and safety initiatives, providing supportive counseling, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and delivering group/class interventions. You also collaborate with external partners such as social services, rehabilitation, UPH, and BUP. You document your work in the PMO system. Within the Elementary School Administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month with counselor colleagues and professional development coordinators, and you take part in external supervision. As a new counselor, you will also receive orientation and mentoring. Counselors in the Elementary School Administration work according to a shared job description. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education. We would like you to have experience working as a school counselor and experience working with children and young people. You have a strong ability to express yourself clearly in speech and writing, and you have good knowledge of social services and the School Act. You have strong commitment to children and young people's psychosocial well-being and the ability to meet people in different life situations. You remain calm in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure. You facilitate children's storytelling and help ensure that students' participation and perspectives are highlighted. You have a natural ability to build relationships and are professional and respectful in your interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. The role requires a high degree of independence and ability to work collaboratively.
