The Project Engineers South Department consists of approximately 20 dedicated Engineers specializing in electrical design, automation, and mechanical design. Geographically, we are located in several places throughout Sweden, working together as a tight remote team. We are responsible for creating designs for control systems for switchgear substations and hydroelectric power stations. Business travel is part of the position to visit the stations. At Vattenfall Services, over 170 engineers work with control systems and testing throughout Sweden, which gives us good opportunities for collaboration and development for our Engineers. Is it you we are looking for when we now recruit a construction manager for our Substation Projects? About the Role What does a Construction Manager for Substation Projects do with us? Our customers are within energy and grid companies, industries, and infrastructure companies. The position involves leading our electrical engineers who develop electrical designs for substation projects for transformer stations. This includes design of control systems, local power, relay protection, communication, etc. VSN handles substation projects at all voltage levels from 10 kV to 400 kV. The projects involve both refurbishment and new construction projects. You have one or more engineers in your project team that you lead, discuss technical solutions with, and review their work. You lead multiple projects in parallel. Within the scope of the projects, you report to the project manager. You have the technical responsibility and the project manager has the commercial responsibility. Here are examples of work tasks/responsibilities that will be included: Lead work on creating complete electrical designs Review of colleagues' designs Ensure technical function and contract compliance Customer dialogue regarding technical solutions Review of suppliers' technical solutions Review of suppliers' deliveries such as GIS switchgear, transformers, etc. Be a mentor to junior employees in Elmaster Be a super user in Elmaster Requirements Specification We are looking for someone who is analytical and enjoys solving complex problems—for you, nothing is impossible! You are very knowledgeable in the field and would like to share your knowledge with your colleagues. Taking on a task and bringing it to completion together with the construction team is a matter of course for you. Since the work involves complex issues, we also want you to be structured in your approach. We know that you will develop with us. However, we would like to see that you already have: Many years of experience with designs of control systems for switchgear or hydroelectric power stations Experience with relay protection configuration Experience with RTU, backup alarm transmitters, PLC programming Post-secondary electrical power education or equivalent work experience in electrical power Good knowledge of Elmaster Good IT and computer skills Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written B-driver's license is a requirement Meritorious: Leadership experience and good pedagogical ability Experience mentoring junior electrical engineers Good knowledge of Elprocad or EPLAN Additional Information We Offer After several decades in the energy industry, we know that our employees are our most important and most valuable asset.
