About the position You will have a primary position as a clinical veterinarian in the small animal department. In addition to your clinical role, you will have personnel responsibility for veterinarians. You will lead veterinarians together with our Veterinary Chief Rose Nolting and be responsible for operational and management matters together with other managers. You are part of UDS small animal operations group. The department head is your direct manager. In your work, you will collaborate with other managers in the department's management group as well as with senior veterinarians and specialists to ensure high-quality and efficient care and a good educational environment for our students. All staff contribute to providing quality animal healthcare and creating favorable conditions for clinical education and research for our students and researchers. The position involves scheduling both during regular daytime hours and irregular hours, as UDS small animal department operates 24/7. We offer you leadership development through our management and leadership training programs at SLU as well as education in pedagogy. Your background You are a licensed veterinarian. You have been clinically active as a veterinarian for several years and feel confident with the tasks you face as a veterinarian at an animal hospital that operates around the clock. It is a merit if you have Step 1 competence in canine and feline diseases or higher education. It is also a merit if you have leadership experience and experience in operations development. You enjoy seeing colleagues grow in their roles and developing operations. You are fair, supportive, and positive in your approach to your coworkers. You appreciate teamwork and involving others. You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain strong relationships with colleagues. You understand that event-driven operations with irregular working hours is something you can manage. Your approach is scientific with an interest in evidence-based care, and you appreciate that UDS conducts teaching and research. You are a positive role model in customer interactions and professional in your approach. As a person, you are organized, can handle occasionally stressful situations, have good self-awareness, and a willingness to contribute to the operation. You have the ability to prioritize when the situation requires it. You express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish. About us The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and postgraduate training in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. In all these subjects, our operations span all animal species. At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal healthcare go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide top-quality care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also share knowledge with the general public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the animal healthcare of the future.
