Department of Clinical Sciences The University Animal Hospital (UDS) at the Department of Clinical Sciences (KV) is SLU's center for clinical research and education. At UDS, veterinary students, veterinarians, and veterinary nurses receive practical training while active clinical research is conducted. We are now seeking a clinically active veterinarian with broad experience in small animal medicine and anesthesiology. We welcome your application! About the Job Your primary responsibilities will include patient care and patient safety in daily clinical work as well as supervision of students, particularly in anesthesia and analgesia at UDS and also in the ICU department. Participation in on-call and on-standby activities is also part of the position. In your daily work, you will be actively engaged in clinical education of veterinary students and clinical veterinarians. You will also provide support and guidance to veterinary nurses. There is an opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research, and you may also contribute to lectures, small group teaching, and examination of veterinary students. An important part of the position is to advise and collaborate with veterinarians in other specialties, such as intensive care and in-patient care. Regular consultations with veterinarians, including referring veterinarians, are also part of your responsibilities. Your Background You have a veterinary degree from a university in Sweden, another EU/EES country, or Switzerland and are eligible to practice as a veterinarian in Sweden. It is desirable, but not required, if you are a certified national (Step 2) or international specialist in the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) or the American equivalent (ACVAA). Teaching and research experience in the field is desirable. You speak English fluently and speak either a Scandinavian language or are willing to learn Swedish within approximately 2–3 years.
