The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and adults with substance abuse problems. SiS youth home Klarälvsgården receives non-school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminal behavior, and substance abuse problems. We have a mandate to receive boys with an expanded need for psychiatric services.
Job Description
Do you want to make a vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth/clients toward new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that routines on the unit function as they should. You play a significant role in providing stability and security for our youth/clients, and you are responsible for the foundation of daily life such as school attendance, cleaning, cooking, and more. You work to maintain order and safety at the institution according to our procedures. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work to build secure relationships and help ensure our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break established patterns of behavior. Together with your team of engaged colleagues such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, rewarding, and varied.

Working hours are scheduled day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to vital change. Therefore, you need to have a strong ability to create engagement and participation. It is equally important that you have a firmly grounded positive view of people, strong empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues.
You must have:
Completed and approved upper secondary education
Category B driver's license
Very good Swedish in speaking and writing, as the work may involve documentation and contact with other government agencies
Experience working with youth or with people in vulnerable life situations, for example from psychiatry, residential care services, or healthcare and social services
At least 2 years of post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational university (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or other relevant subject areas.*
*Exceptions to the requirement for at least two years of post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).
Meritorious:
Experience working with our target group of boys aged 16-21.
