Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka (LNB) is announcing a competition for the position of JURIST (profession code – 2611 01). We are looking for a new colleague – a jurist with interest in copyright law and a desire to deeply address legal issues related to it, as well as actively participate in other legal administration processes of LNB. Main job responsibilities (job duties are performed primarily on-site at LNB premises): ensure LNB's operations comply with copyright and neighboring rights regulations by providing legal advice and opinions on copyright application; provide legal support on matters related to digitalization, digital content use in Digitalabiblioteka.lv and other LNB digital resources, artificial intelligence technology use, large-scale data mining and analysis (text and data mining), as well as other digital environment and intellectual property rights issues; develop and evaluate contract drafts related to copyright object use, licensing, property rights transfer and other intellectual property matters; represent LNB's interests in copyright matters, cooperating with state and municipal institutions, international institutions and other interested parties; participate, as directed by management, in: providing legal consultative support to LNB management, structural unit heads and specialists in LNB operational areas; developing normative acts and other documents or reviewing, evaluating them and providing opinions; preparing LNB's position on various matters related to LNB's operational areas; preparing responses to letters, complaints and submissions from other institutions, natural and legal persons. Requirements for applicants: higher legal education or studies in the final year of a relevant study program; experience in legal work. Experience in the state sector is preferred; good knowledge of copyright law. Experience in copyright law is preferred; practical experience in developing external and internal normative acts and preparing opinions; excellent knowledge of the structure, operating principles and normative regulation of public administration; ability to work with large volumes of information, analyze it and draw conclusions; excellent cooperation and communication skills; state language knowledge at the highest level; English language knowledge at a level that ensures performance of job duties related to cooperation with foreign partners and international institutions; ability to work in a team and individually; sense of responsibility and accuracy.
