Candidates who have not previously served in institutions of the Ministry of Interior system or the Prison Administration will be required to complete professional development training in 3-month courses in Riga at the State Police College by November 23, 2026!
Key Job Duties:
respond to information about criminal offenses or other legal violations, dispatch to the scene of the incident;
conduct patrols and implement necessary security measures to prevent and detect legal violations, detain offenders, prevent unauthorized activities and disturbances;
upon detecting administrative violations, initiate and manage proceedings for administrative violations, make decisions in the prescribed manner;
initiate and conduct departmental inspections;
upon detecting criminal offenses, initiate criminal proceedings and conduct initial investigative actions;
conduct tests for alcohol and other intoxicating substances in the manner prescribed by legal acts;
regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and prevent legal violations while on patrol routes (according to assignment) or while stationed at a patrol post;
provide assistance to victims, identify witnesses to the incident or offense, ensure closure and guarding of the scene;
search for and detain persons, vehicles, and property subject to search, as well as detain persons held on suspicion of committing criminal offenses and administrative violations.
Requirements for Candidates:
compliance with the requirements established in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Officials with Special Service Status of institutions of the Ministry of Interior system and the Prison Administration;
first-level professional higher education (law, civil and military defense, business and administration, social and human sciences, computer science);
state (Latvian) language proficiency – highest level C;
category B driver's license;
activated secure electronic signature.
