An official is a person with appropriate professional education, qualifications and a special service rank who has taken an oath and serves in the Administration. The rights and duties of an official are determined by the Law on the Correctional Facility Administration and the Law on the Service of Officials with Special Service Ranks in the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Correctional Facility Administration. Vacancy: Senior Inspector (Social Worker) of the Resocialization Department at Valmiera Prison, 5413 02 Employment: Full-time Salary: from 1850 EUR Workplace: Valmiera Prison of the Correctional Facility Administration – Dzirnavu iela 32, Valmiermuiža, Valmieras pag., Valmieras nov., LV-4219 Contact Information: 64123906, [email protected] Submit CV and cover letter to: [email protected]; [email protected] Requirements for Candidates: Compliance with the requirements set out in the Law on the Service of Officials with Special Service Ranks in the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Correctional Facility Administration: - Latvian citizen; - Age from 18 to 50 years; - Second level professional higher or academic education in social work or charitable social work; - Knowledge of Latvian language at least C level 2 stage; - Physical fitness meeting the requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers 28.05.2013 Regulation No.288 "Physical Fitness Requirements for Officials with Special Service Ranks in the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Correctional Facility Administration"); - Health condition and psychological characteristics meeting the requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers 21.11.2006 Regulation No.970 "Regulations on the Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics Required for Officials with Special Service Ranks in the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Correctional Facility Administration and Candidates for Official Positions and the Procedure for Checking Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics"); - Has not been sentenced for an intentional criminal offense – regardless of expungement or removal of conviction; - Has not been convicted of an intentional criminal offense with exemption from punishment; - Has not been prosecuted for commission of an intentional criminal offense, except in cases where the official has been prosecuted but criminal proceedings against them have been terminated on rehabilitative grounds; - Has not been recognized as legally incapacitated in the manner prescribed by law; - Has not been dismissed from service in the Interior Ministry System or Correctional Facility Administration because a disciplinary penalty of dismissal from service has been applied; - Good computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); - Ability to plan and organize own work, to fulfill assigned tasks in priority order; - Good communication skills, high psychological resilience; - Ability to work both in a team and individually; - High sense of responsibility, analytical thinking, ability to work under conditions of increased intensity. Duties - Identify and address social problems and cases of inmates, attracting appropriate resources; - Organize and conduct activities for restoration, improvement and acquisition of new social skills for inmates; - Use individual and group work methods when working with inmates, applying various social work theories; - Assess inmate risks and needs according to competence, participate in the development and implementation of resocialization plans; - Conduct group classes for inmates within resocialization programs; - Prepare inmates for release from the correctional facility, inform inmates of opportunities to receive social services and social assistance; - Consider inmate applications according to competence; - Cooperate with state and municipal institutions, non-governmental organizations according to competence; - Perform other management-assigned tasks within work duties and orders that do not contradict legal requirements; - Comply with social worker ethics and data confidentiality.
