The HR Department Would you like to work in a qualified and broad HR role where you combine strategic development work with operational support and close collaboration with our business? With us, you'll be part of an engaged HR unit where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and joint development are central. Our HR strategists, HR specialists, and HR administrators work together within the unit, alongside other parts of business support and in close dialogue with the business to create professional, coordinated, and business-oriented HR support. We are now seeking an HR specialist with broad experience who wants to contribute to the development of our HR processes and provide qualified support to managers and the business in complex personnel-related matters. This position is a temporary contract for 11 months. About the Job As an HR specialist, you work both operatively and strategically, providing qualified HR support to faculties, institutes, and departments. The role is broad and encompasses work within most HR processes, where you serve as a trusted and independent support to managers in personnel and organizational matters. The work involves close collaboration with HR unit colleagues and other functions within business support to ensure coordination and professional support to the business. You also actively contribute to development work related to HR processes and business development. In this role, you work broadly with matters such as skills management, labor law, work environment, change management, collaboration, management support, and development of HR processes. You are expected to be able to switch between advising on complex individual cases, supporting planning and implementation, and participating in development initiatives that strengthen the business's conditions. Your Background Requirements We are looking for someone with a degree from a personnel management program or other education that the employer deems equivalent, plus at least three years of experience in qualified and broad HR work in an advisory role. You have experience providing qualified support to managers on personnel matters and feel comfortable independently handling both operational and strategic HR issues. You have a good understanding of labor law, legislation, collective agreements, collaboration with labor organizations, and the processes that characterize HR work in a larger organization. About Us The HR unit consists of around twenty employees and is one of three units in SLU's HR department. The HR department is part of business support at SLU and has a consultative role toward university management, faculties, institutes, and departments. We support managers and leaders so they can develop their operations, fulfill their missions, and create attractive, sustainable workplaces where employees thrive and develop. The HR unit is located at SLU's three main locations—Uppsala, Umeå, and Alnarp—with the majority of employees and the HR unit manager based in Uppsala. The role involves both independent work and close collaboration with colleagues and your manager, including remote work.
