About the Position
Kajan School's adapted primary and secondary school in Uppsala is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and qualified high school/middle school teacher in subjects such as Swedish, English, and mathematics as well as arts subjects, with experience working in adapted primary school and/or secondary school. All students attending the school have an intellectual disability.
Job Responsibilities
You will work closely with the school's special education teachers and resource educators during school hours.
With support from a team of skilled special education teachers, you will serve as a teaching resource in the classroom during school hours alongside the school's resource educators. Together, you will provide support for students throughout their school day.
Qualifications
You understand the mission of the adapted school and actively work to stimulate students' development and learning. Teaching is based on students' needs, interests, and experiences, but you also challenge them by inspiring new discoveries. You offer students a variety of working methods, forms of expression, and learning environments that integrate care and learning.
You plan, organize, implement, and evaluate teaching both individually and together with your colleagues. You are flexible and have strong collaboration skills and a desire for students to reach their full potential.
In the classroom, you are a clear leader with the ability to create an environment characterized by safety, joy, and knowledge. This is accomplished through strong didactic skills, clear structure, and varied teaching adapted to students' conditions.
You see documentation and assessment as a natural part of your work. You have a strong ability to analyze and reflect on your work to continuously develop and improve the school's activities.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- is a certified high school and/or middle school teacher (grades 7–9). Subject focus: mathematics, Swedish, English preferred.
- has experience teaching in adapted primary school and is familiar with curriculum guidelines.
- uses digital tools in teaching and employs clarifying pedagogy and has knowledge of positive behavior support.
- has strong collaboration skills and can build good relationships, as the role involves many contact points with students, staff, and guardians.
- expresses yourself well in both speech and writing, as the role includes written documentation and verbal communication.
