Do you want to take on a key role in developing a golf facility with high ambitions, strong club spirit, and great commitment? Finspångs Golfklubb is now seeking a Head Greenkeeper who wants to lead the course maintenance forward and contribute to a world-class golf experience for members, guests, and staff.
In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the course quality, long-term development, and daily operations. You will lead the course maintenance organization, drive improvement initiatives, and work closely with the club manager, board, facilities committee, and other staff to create a well-maintained, attractive, and sustainable facility.
About the Role
As Head Greenkeeper, you are responsible for the maintenance, development, and operations of the golf course and the club's other green spaces. You plan, prioritize, and follow up on daily work, while ensuring that resources, machinery, budget, and work methods are used efficiently and in a long-term sustainable manner.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on course work with leadership, planning, and development. You are present in daily operations, clear in your communication, and have the ability to create structure, engagement, and momentum within your team.
Your Main Responsibilities
· Lead, plan, and allocate work within the course maintenance organization.
· Oversee recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and development of course maintenance staff.
· Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance plans for the entire facility.
· Ensure that the golf course maintains high quality throughout the season and develops in line with the club's ambitions.
· Manage budget, cost tracking, purchasing, and priorities within the course department.
· Plan and execute development and investment projects on the course and facility.
· Oversee machinery, irrigation systems, and technical installations.
· Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, occupational health and safety requirements, and environmental standards.
· Communicate course status, planned actions, and ongoing improvements to members and guests.
We Are Looking for Someone Who
· Has documented experience in golf course maintenance and a good understanding of what it takes to achieve high playing quality.
· Has experience in work supervision, personnel management, and team development.
· Has strong knowledge of turf biology, plant nutrition, irrigation, and practical course maintenance.
· Is a clear, present, and engaged leader who fosters participation and accountability.
· Works in a structured, solution-oriented manner with good planning skills.
· Has strong administrative abilities and experience with budget work, monitoring, and purchasing.
· Holds a driver's license (category B).
Meritorious Qualifications
· Education in golf course maintenance, green space management, or a related field.
· Experience as a Head Greenkeeper or Assistant Head Greenkeeper.
· Experience in project management, investment planning, and long-term development work.
· Education in occupational health and safety, leadership, or personnel management.
· Pesticide applicator certification.
