Carlshöjdsskolan is located in a quiet area, close to forest and green spaces. All students receive education in outdoor activities. The school is a multicultural elementary school (grades F-6) and an adapted elementary school. It is well-equipped and wheelchair accessible. Approximately 400 students attend here, and the staff is organized into work teams. Our well-educated and engaged teachers work to ensure that all students thrive at school and succeed with their studies. Carlshöjdsskolan is one of Umeå municipality's practice schools, which means that during the school year it receives teacher trainees for their practice-based education, VFU. The position is a substitute position, part-time 30%, starting as soon as possible by agreement through December 18, 2026.
Job Responsibilities
In this position, you will teach music primarily for grades 1-6. Your task as an elementary school teacher is to plan and conduct instruction based on the curriculum, as well as do more comprehensive planning together with colleagues. You shall individually and together with colleagues follow up, evaluate, and analyze instruction as well as assess and document students' knowledge development. You are responsible for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that contributes to students' goal achievement. As a teacher, you are responsible for informing students and guardians about the student's knowledge development and, sometimes individually or together with a colleague, have mentor responsibilities.
About You
You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, structure, and context for all students. You are well versed in the school's governance documents. You differentiate and vary instruction based on students' needs. You share your knowledge and experiences to contribute to collegial learning. An important part of the teacher role is building good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
Requirements
Certified teacher with authorization to teach music in elementary school
Have/have applied for teacher certification
Experience working with children with NPF
Valid criminal record clearance certificate
Good knowledge of Swedish language, both spoken and written
