About the Position At GöteborgsOperan's Costume, Mask and Costume Technology department, approximately 55 professional specialists work in a creative, production-intensive environment where craftsmanship, tradition and innovation meet. Do you also want to work creatively and professionally in the heart of the performing arts? GöteborgsOperan seeks an engaged mask artist, a key role in creating characters for our productions. Main Responsibilities As a mask artist you will work with creating masks and wigs for GöteborgsOperan's productions based on the designer's sketches. You are responsible for production with responsibility for planning, production and documentation within budget and hour constraints. In collaboration with your colleagues, you contribute to the mask department's shared work and development. Requirements Education in mask and wig work and/or several years of relevant documented professional experience Ability to construct and style wigs Good knowledge of styles and periods Good computer skills (e.g. MS Office) Meritorious You should be able to cut and color hair, create dental prosthetics and manufacture removable pieces and masks Experience working in theater, opera or other performing arts production Desirably knowledge of 3D design Language Skills Swedish and English, spoken and written Personal Qualities You are a positive person, confident in your professional practice and work well with others. You are responsive in your interactions with artists, colleagues and artistic teams and contribute to a professional and well-functioning work environment. You have clear and good communication skills and contribute to positive group dynamics. Work can periodically involve a high pace, which requires that you are stress-resilient and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You are solution-oriented, flexible and accustomed to adapting to the rapid changes of the performing arts.
