Your responsibilities
As a preschool teacher in Västerås City, you lead and develop pedagogical work together with your colleagues. The role involves planning, implementing, and following up on teaching based on the preschool's curriculum. You use an exploratory and project-based approach where children's thoughts and ideas are given space and guide the way in learning. In practice, this can mean capturing a spontaneous conversation, deepening play, or exploring the world together with children through language, creativity, and movement.
Together with your team, you contribute to a preschool where reflection, collaboration, and quality are a natural part of everyday life.
Upon employment, you will be assigned a position at one of our preschools. The placement may change in the future based on operational needs.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who are a certified preschool teacher, or who are nearing completion of your education and want to take the step into the workforce. You have a good understanding of the preschool's mission and the ability to work for equity in teaching, even when conditions differ. Through an enjoyable and conscious approach, all children are given the opportunity to learn and develop.
Your language skills are important. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and use language as a conscious tool in teaching.

Recruitment process
In Västerås City, we have a central and joint recruitment process for preschool teachers. This means we interview and fill positions on an ongoing basis according to the preschools' needs. You will of course have the opportunity to indicate preferred preschools or areas when you submit your application. If you advance after a possible interview, you will have the opportunity to visit selected preschools based on current needs.

Before you can be employed, you need to present a clear extract from the police criminal record.
Upon employment, you need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or identity certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must present a valid work permit or be exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
