Do you have a strong interest in RF design and want to apply this knowledge to strengthen Sweden's security? Do you thrive in an environment where collaboration, curiosity, and problem-solving are in focus? Then FOI might be your next workplace! We offer a balanced work life, a development-oriented work environment, and work that is vital to society! About the Position As a research engineer in RF design, you will be part of the entire development chain for the unit's hardware-near simulation environments that contribute to our ability to simulate, analyze, and evaluate current and future systems' electronic warfare capabilities. An ability that strengthens Sweden's security and the Swedish Armed Forces' capabilities. Your work will include designing, building, and testing RF electronics to enable various simulations and field tests. You will participate in measurement campaigns and troubleshooting, both in laboratories and in the field. You will participate in analyses of data, simulation results, and field tests to further develop developed systems and answer questions from our clients. As a research engineer, you will work in one or more project groups, both individually and in teams. With us, you have the opportunity to use both your practical and theoretical knowledge to solve interesting problems and tasks together with colleagues and clients. To thrive in this role, you should appreciate hands-on work in laboratory environments and in the field. With us, you will develop your expertise. This happens both within the scope of project activities and through individually tailored professional development based on your and the organization's needs. About the Unit You will join the Unit of Material-Near Electronic Warfare Analysis, which is part of the Electronic Warfare Department. The unit conducts applied research and methodology development related to material-near analysis of sensor and electronic warfare systems operating within the electromagnetic spectrum. We work, among other things, on developing, operating, and maintaining hardware-near simulation environments used to answer the Swedish Armed Forces' and FMV's questions and needs. The activities are largely experimentally oriented with work performed both in laboratories and in the field, in close collaboration with our clients. Do you have the competency profile we need? Requirements We are looking for someone who: - Has a master's degree in electrical design, electrical engineering, engineering physics, or a corresponding relevant field, - Has experience with programming in C, C++, and hardware-near programming, - Has experience with practical work with electronics and hardware, - Has strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English, - Has good practical skills and a strong interest in technology and experimental work, - Holds a category B driver's license Beyond your formal qualifications, we place great importance on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills. You are proactive and can solve work tasks and deliver results in a timely manner to our clients in an independent and structured way. Meritorious It is meritorious if you have current experience in one or more of the following areas: - At least 5 years of practical and current experience in RF design, - Measurement technology within the RF field, - Advanced Design Systems (ADS), - Software development, - FPGA, - Radar technology, - Radar electronics, - Signal processing, - Control theory, - Experimental and/or test activities, - Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation, - The Armed Forces, defense-related research, or defense industry.
