The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University is a broad international environment for research and teaching. Project Description
The holder of this position will work in a research group at Uppsala University, supported by the Swedish Research Council. The aim is to experimentally and theoretically analyze the barriers to horizontal gene transfer in bacteria.
Work Tasks
Work with the development of new bacterial strains using advanced genetic methods and whole-genome sequencing analysis to understand the barriers to horizontal gene transfer. The work tasks include assisting with laboratory management.
Qualifications
Master's degree in infection biology, microbiology, or a related field. Documented experience and knowledge of methods in microbiology and bacterial genetics. The candidate is expected to take own initiative and drive the project forward, but also collaborate with other members of the group. Requirements for very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability such as teamwork ability, sense of responsibility, thoroughness, and good communication skills.
About the Position
Fixed-term employment until 2027-02-28. Full-time position (100%). Start date: as soon as possible or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
