Department of Soil and Environment About the Position The work tasks include performing field and laboratory work in research projects within "Agricultural Water Management and Water Quality" at the Department of Soil and Environment, as well as basic data analysis, data management, and some assistance with course activities. Your primary task will be fieldwork with sampling in long-term experiments and soil and water sampling in experiments and monitoring sites. Data entry and basic analysis of collected data. You will periodically assist with fieldwork, lab work, course activities, and communication with stakeholders and farmers in the project. Your Background Job Requirements: Good field experience with soil and water sampling and gas measurements with GASMET GT 5000 Terra. Computer skills and analytical ability to analyze data and variables in the Swedish soil-water-crop system. Strong knowledge of Swedish and English, both written and oral. Drone pilot certificate. B-category driver's license for cars. Master's degree in biology or soil science. Experience with collaboration among different stakeholders relevant to research projects and field supervision of students is meritorious. References are desirable but not mandatory. About Us The Department of Soil and Environment is a leading soil science center, both nationally and internationally. We research soil properties and fundamental functions, and study how environmental and climate changes affect soil. Through research, environmental analysis, and education, we contribute knowledge about sustainable soil use in the future and develop new solutions to support decisions in agriculture and forestry, as well as urban environments. The work environment at the department is international and we have approximately 100 employees. Research is conducted within seven subject groups with focuses on soil nutrient cycling, soil chemistry, soil biology, soil mechanics and tillage, biogeophysics, water management and water quality, and forest soil biogeochemistry. We manage important research infrastructure including soil chemical and soil physical laboratories, a computed tomograph, long-term experiments, a lysimeter facility, and the field research stations Lanna and Lövsta which provide infrastructure for crop cultivation experiments. In education, the department participates in approximately 30 courses at basic and advanced levels. We are part of SLU's Soil, Water and Environment Center (MVM-centrum), with close contacts to environmental analysis and research on water, nutrient cycles, and bioenergy.
