The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences is a department within the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University. The department currently has approximately 200 employees and an additional 150 researchers are affiliated with the department. The activities consist of 11 research groups and education is conducted at all levels. Uppsala Health Economics (UHE) is a specialized unit of health economists at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, Uppsala University. Our team has expertise in applying health economic methods to health issues, including RCT-based and model-based economic evaluations, as well as using registry data to evaluate health and economic effects of health care interventions. Our health economists lead several projects within various areas, including mental health, child health, public health, precision medicine, and innovation in health care. We collaborate with clinics to achieve the best possible results. We have several national and international partners and engage in contract work for healthcare providers, municipalities, regions, and foundations. We are now seeking a health economics researcher to strengthen UHE's growing operations. Job Responsibilities We are looking for a doctoral-level health economist/researcher to work on, among other things, the following projects: Econometric modeling within child health, Analysis of the distribution of consumption of child health care services in Sweden, Health economic evaluations of health interventions, Health economic evaluations of various innovation and care development projects. The projects require knowledge in health economics, statistics, econometrics, and epidemiology. The job tasks include analyzing data from both clinical studies and Swedish registers concerning consumption of societal resources, costs and health outcome data, as well as calculating the cost-effectiveness of various interventions. The researcher is expected to write scientific publications, contribute to writing research grants, teaching, and mentoring junior researchers. Qualification Requirements For eligibility, the following are required: Doctoral degree in the fields of health economics, medical sciences, or public health. Experience working with large databases and analyzing cost and outcome data, as well as conducting cost-effectiveness analyses using advanced quantitative methods. Experience using R or STATA. Strong abilities to express yourself in both speech and writing in English. Ability to work in a team and demonstrate creativity in solving research questions. Good organizational skills and experience working in a structured and independent manner. We are looking for someone who thrives in a research environment with varying tasks and rapid changes. Desirable/Meriting Further It is meriting if you have: Experience in register-based studies that can be confirmed with scientific publications Skills in data visualization and presentation of research results in an effective manner. Basic knowledge of Swedish is desirable. About the Position The position is fixed-term, 12 months. Full-time. Start date January 1, 2027, or by agreement.
