Description Would you like to strengthen parents and families from the start? Would you like to work preventatively and provide parents with tools, security, and support in their parenting? Then you could be our new colleague! We are now seeking a dedicated parent support worker for the Prevention Unit (Ages 0–6) at the Social Services Department on Hisingen. The position is initially linked to an employee's parental leave, but since the need for parent support workers continues in the unit, the position will be permanent. The Social Services has an important mandate to work preventatively and proactively to strengthen children's and families' living conditions. By being close to families, we can early recognize the need for support and help strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors. As a parent support worker, you therefore play an important role in the early and preventative work for children and families on Hisingen. The position is located at Sannegården Family Center, which serves expectant parents and families with children ages 0–6. Here, social services parent support workers, educators from open preschool, and child health nurses from the child health center work under the same roof. The maternity clinic in Eriksberg is a close collaboration partner. Families can benefit from both general health-promoting and preventative support through open preschool activities, individual conversations, and parent groups. The close collaboration between different professions makes it possible to identify families' needs early and offer the right support. Organizationally, you will be part of the Prevention Unit (Ages 0–6). This includes 14 parent support workers working at eight family centers and family center-like activities on Hisingen. You will be part of a unit with stable and experienced colleagues, low staff turnover, and good opportunities for development. The unit is organized into two teams. Your team includes parent support workers who work in Backa, Kärra, Lundby, and Tuve. The team meets continuously and you have shared methodology and process supervision. Responsibilities As a parent support worker (Ages 0-6), your mission is to strengthen parents' competence and confidence in their parenting and contribute to good and secure relationships between children and important adults. You meet families both in individual conversations and in group activities and provide guidance and support based on the family's needs. You may meet parents in different life situations, from questions and thoughts about parenting and child development to more complex situations where there may be mental health issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, migration-related challenges, economic hardship, or difficulties in the couple's relationship. When needed, part of your work is to identify needs together with the family and motivate and guide them to other activities and services. You are continuously present in open preschool activities and at the maternity nurses' and child health nurses' venues. Parents can therefore easily contact you and colleagues can easily guide parents in need of support. In close collaboration with colleagues at the family center, you contribute both in the activities and in consultative conversations with social services' perspective and expertise in the joint work around families. As a parent support worker, you lead parent groups and participate in developing preventative work. You are expected to take initiative, drive activities, and contribute to developing collaboration both within the family center and with other actors in the local area. The position also includes coordinating Sannegården Family Center. In your role as coordinator, you are responsible for convening and leading joint collaboration meetings once a month. You also represent the unit at steering group meetings a couple of times per term and help maintain and develop cross-professional collaboration. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in social work and several years of experience in social work with families and children. You have experience meeting parents and small children in different life situations and working with change and support based on the family's needs. You may also have good knowledge of social services' activities and responsibilities as well as knowledge of public authority functions and social services' processes for this target group. It is advantageous if you have good knowledge of attachment, parenting, and small children's development. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge in areas such as domestic violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse and feel confident meeting families experiencing various forms of vulnerability and complexity. To thrive in the role, you need to be confident in your professional role and able to work independently. You are organized and take responsibility for planning, initiating, and driving the work forward. At the same time, you are responsive and flexible and have the ability to adapt your support to the family you meet and the situation they are in. You have a clear child rights perspective and ability to see the bigger picture around the child and family. You are relationship-building and have an easy way of creating trust in meetings with parents and other important adults. The unit meets many English-speaking families, so it is an advantage if you feel comfortable having conversations in English. Since the work takes place in close collaboration with several professions, you need to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working across professional boundaries. You are confident both participating in and leading meetings and taking initiative for collaboration. It is advantageous if you have experience leading parent groups and are trained in the ABC group leader training and/or Trust Circles. When needed, work may be scheduled for evenings, for example in connection with parent groups and courses. Other Information Selection is ongoing and interviews are planned for week 41 and week 42. For your interview, you need to bring a passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EES. This is so we as an employer can verify your identity and ensure you have the right to work in Sweden. Gothenburg City applies individual and differentiated salary setting.
